Rameur refers both to a person who rows (in a boat) and to the gym equipment known as a rowing machine. The feminine form rameuse exists but is uncommon. In competitive sport, les rameurs are the athletes of l'aviron (rowing). The second sense (exercise machine) is widely understood in everyday French.
