Présumé is used in legal and journalistic contexts to describe someone considered to be something without yet having it proven, as in présumé innocent (presumed innocent) or le présumé coupable (the alleged perpetrator). The feminine form is présumée. It derives from the verb présumer (to presume, to assume).
