Usage Note
Méconnaissable is built from the prefix mé- (badly, wrongly) plus connaissable (recognisable). It describes someone or something so changed that they can no longer be identified: a renovated building or a person after a major transformation. It is invariable in form across genders.
Examples
"Il était méconnaissable après sa barbe rasée."
Natural Translation
He was unrecognisable after his beard was shaved.
