Mosquée is the French word for a mosque, the Muslim place of worship. France has one of the largest Muslim populations in Western Europe, and the Grande Mosquée de Paris (1926) is a major architectural landmark. The word is always feminine and the final e is pronounced — moskeh, not mosk.
