Also means
matinee performance
Usage Note
Matinée emphasizes the duration or whole span of a morning, unlike matin which is just 'morning'. Saying toute la matinée (all morning long) is the classic use. In theatre, une matinée is an afternoon or daytime performance, just as in English.
