Usage Note

Inviter takes a direct object (the person invited) and can be followed by à + infinitive or à + noun: inviter quelqu'un à dîner ('to invite someone to dinner'). In casual French, je t'invite means 'my treat' - offering to pay. The noun invité(e) means 'guest'.
