Incarné is used theologically to mean made flesh (as in le Verbe incarné, the Word made flesh), and more broadly to mean the embodiment of a quality (il est la bonté incarnée — he is kindness personified). In a completely different medical sense, ongle incarné means an ingrown toenail. Feminine form: incarnée.
