Usage Note

Fâcher means to make someone angry, while the reflexive se fâcher means to get angry or to fall out with someone — ils se sont fâchés ('they had a falling-out'). The adjective fâché also means 'cross' or 'upset': il est fâché contre moi ('he's angry with me'). The adverb fâcheusement means 'unfortunately' in a formal register.
