Feuilleton originally referred to the lower section of a French newspaper page reserved for serialised fiction in the 19th century. Today it most commonly means a TV or radio serial drama. The word comes from feuillet (leaf, sheet), and the tradition of the serialised novel (roman-feuilleton) gave the world writers like Alexandre Dumas.
