Fabriquer implies making something with a process or craft, more specific than faire. Qu'est-ce que tu fabriques? (What are you making? / What on earth are you doing?) is a very common colloquial expression expressing impatience or curiosity. Fabriqué en France is the standard 'Made in France' label.
