Dérision refers to contemptuous ridicule or scorn. The phrase tourner en dérision means to ridicule or make a mockery of something. The adjective dérisoire has shifted somewhat to mean 'laughably small' (e.g. un salaire dérisoire = a derisory wage). Dérision is more formal than moquerie.
