déguisement refers to a costume worn to disguise oneself, especially at carnival or Halloween. The verb is se déguiser en (to dress up as). Un déguisement de pirate is a pirate costume. Do not confuse with maquillage (make-up) or travestissement (cross-dressing in a theatrical sense).
