divin

divine

adjective dee-VAN Less Common

Origin: Latin divinus

heavenly, wonderful

Usage Note

Divin (masculine) / divine (feminine) means relating to God or the divine, but in everyday French it is used hyperbolically for anything delicious or exquisite (c'est divin! = 'it's divine/wonderful!'). The final -n is nasalised in the masculine; the feminine divine is fully pronounced dee-VEEN.
