Usage Note

Distinct has a silent final 't' in the masculine singular (distinct), but in the feminine distincte the 't' is pronounced. The adverb distinctement means 'clearly, distinctly'. Do not confuse with distingué, which means 'distinguished' in the sense of refined or eminent.
