Dérangement most often appears in polite formulas like excusez le dérangement (sorry for the inconvenience) or en dérangement (out of order, said of a phone or machine). It can also describe a mental disturbance in elevated register: un dérangement de l'esprit. The verb déranger is very common: ça vous dérange? (does it bother you?).
