Usage Note

Croiser means to cross paths physically (croiser une rue) or to encounter someone by chance (je l'ai croisé dans le métro = 'I ran into him on the metro'). The reflexive se croiser means 'to cross each other' — nos lettres se sont croisées ('our letters crossed in the post'). Croiser les bras means 'to fold one's arms'.
