Claquer describes sharp, loud impact sounds: claquer une porte (to slam a door), claquer des dents (to have one's teeth chattering), claquer des doigts (to snap one's fingers). Informally, claquer de l'argent means to blow/spend money fast, and il a claqué means 'he dropped dead' in very familiar register.
