bruyamment

noisily, loudly

adverb brwee-YAH-mahn Rare

Usage Note

Bruyamment derives from bruyant (noisy, loud), itself from bruire (to roar, to rustle). It describes both physical noise and, figuratively, conspicuous behaviour — protester bruyamment means to protest loudly or vocally. The silent final -t of bruyant is never pronounced.
