Usage Note
Bien-aimé functions as both a noun (mon bien-aimé, my beloved) and an adjective (son fils bien-aimé, his beloved son). The feminine form is bien-aimée. It is literary and somewhat archaic in everyday speech, but common in poetry, songs, and religious texts (bien-aimé de Dieu).
Examples
"Il appelle sa femme son bien-aimée."
Natural Translation
He calls his wife his beloved.
