Usage Note

ambigu has an irregular feminine form: ambiguë (note the tréma, though the 2016 orthographic reform allows ambigüe). It describes language, behaviour, or situations open to more than one interpretation. The noun is ambiguïté, and the phrase sans ambiguïté (unambiguously) is common in formal writing.
