Usage Note

Alignement covers physical alignment (wheels, text columns) as well as political alignment between parties or nations. The verb aligner means 'to align' or 'to line up', and s'aligner sur means 'to fall in line with'. In Breton heritage, the word is also used for megalithic stone rows such as those at Carnac.
